The Wii is getting a price cut, EA could be jumped by MS, UK to get broadband tax

Rumours are rife that Microsoft could be eyeing a buyout of Electronic Arts. Microsoft are currently refuting the claim which has resulted in EA shares dropping slightly after they rose over 7% due to MS takeover speculation. Does a Microsoft takeover of EA make sense? Not really. The obvious reason for MS to grab EA is to make all of the publishers titles exclusive to the 360. No more FIFA or Madden on the PS3 or Wii would be a disaster for EA. Analyst Doug Creutz says it best, "There is simply no way the math works due to the massive hit to EA’s revenue and earnings post acquisition. This is even assuming such a deal would pass regulatory muster, which we find highly doubtful."

The Wii is getting a price cut. After days of back and forth rumours, Nintendo has confirmed that it will dropping the price of the Wii beginning 2nd October.

Fatal1ty has told ESL that if the opportunity to return to playing competitive eSports arose then he's ready. When asked about returning to the Intel Exteme Masters, he said, "If I come and play, I'm gonna play to win!"

Microsoft have named the third-party companies who are currently developing Project Natal titles. The list isn't by any means a shocker with all the big boys making the cut including Activision, EA, Ubisoft, Konami, Namco Bandai and Capcom. You can listen to the full Natal Panel audio from the Tokyo Games Show here on Enemy Down.

Stuart Saw has announced that Crossfire Challenge 5 will be taking place next March in Enschede, Holland. The popular Enemy Territory LAN will feature tournaments for ET, Modern Warfare 2 and Wolfenstein. QuakeLive could also make an appearance, PC permitting.

Super Mario Bros. Wii has been given a release date of November 15th. The Italian plumbers, who are sure to be a massive hit this Christmas, could face a little competition courtesy of LEGO Indiana Jones 2. Indy will hit shop shelves two days later.

The UK government is aiming to introduce a 50p per month tax on broadband connections within the next 8 months. The extra cash will be used to make much needed upgrades to the existing networks and bring the UK's tech infrastructure in line with the third world. Several of these much needed upgrades were outlined in Labour's Digital Britain report.
