The BBC reports on the PS3 failure rates and FIFA 10 gets a 2 minute tv ad

Posted by SmellyMoss on Sep 21st 2009 13:25

EA aired a 2 minute FIFA 10 ad on Sky Sports on Sunday night during the Manchester Derby. The ad features the likes of Wayne Rooney, Tim Cahill and Theo Walcott and is now only available to watch on YouTube and the EA website. FIFA 10 is out on 2nd October.

Consumer rights show, Watchdog, is defending the decision to air a piece on PS3 manufacturing faults. The BBC says, "More than 150 Watchdog viewers have contacted us to say they've experienced it, and by Sony's own admission, around 12,500 of the 2.5 million PlayStations sold in the UK have shut down in this way since March 2007. The problem is mainly thought to affect the 60GB launch model, but Sony repeatedly refuses to release the failure rate for that model, claiming that the information is "commercially sensitive". Sony has responded by releasing a statement denying that the console has problems.

Bioshock 2 will be out on 9th February, 2010 according to 2K Games. The game will be released on the 360, PS3 and PC.

GameOn! London has been officially cancelled. The event was set to take place November 14th and 15th at Earls Court. Parent company CGM, who also is involved with Enemy Down, has blamed the recession for the event's cancellation.

Left4Dead 2 has been banned in Australia. The title is being refused classification by the ACB after failing to comply with guidelines to bring the games rating down to MA 15+, the most extreme rating a title can receive Down Under.

To wrap things up on a non-gaming note, take a look at King Curtis. Hilarious.
