Battlefield 3 has been confirmed and AA3 is now available to pre-load on Steam

America's Army 3 is now available for pre-load on Steam. The title, which is free to download, is the third installment of US Army's recruitment and training game. AA3 is out on June 17th, 2009.

EA has confirmed Battlefield 3. Good news? Bad news? Only time will tell.

Xbox Live will be down for maintenance on Tuesday, June 16th for the entire day. The forums on xbox.com will be read-only during the downtime. The update includes no new features but is part of the preparation for many of the new services on Xbox Live that were announced at E3. Yes, it is sad that Live will be down for such a long time... possibly an entire 24 hours! You can wipe those tears away though as the Live Deal of the Week is a doozy. The 800 MS point GoW2: Combustible Multiplayer Map Pack is now only 560 MS points. Great deal.

Criterion Games are developing the next Need for Speed title. Good news for a franchise that is in desperate need of a revamp. Anyone familiar with Burnout Paradise will agree that Need for Speed is in good hands. Since the release of Paradise, Criterion have launched several free patches and DLC packs that have significantly evolved the game, making it one of the most popular and critically acclaimed racers of 2008. Team Fortress 2 received an update this week that allows the Dead Ringer to be used while carrying the flag. The fix also allows the Ambassador to shoot sticky bombs and stops Jarate from randomly exploding. Details of the update are here.

Another title to receive an update recently is Company of Heroes. The patch fixes several issues and includes updated help text for several units. More can be found here.

Wednesday saw Sega Mega Drive Madness on the Xbox 360 with several titles being released on Live from the classic console. Altered Beast, Comix Zone, Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star II, Shinobi and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 are all available now for download.

Turtle Entertainment, the organisers of the ESL, have announced the 2009 eSports Awards. 13 awards will be given away including eSports Player of the Year and Newcomer / Breakthrough of the Year. The ceremony is taking place in August.

To wrap things up, Games Radar have a dynamite piece on The Top 7... E3 Announcements You Missed. Downloadable full 360 games, tons of games for the Wii and DSi, Live Avatars getting accessories... these were all announced in the background of E3.
