UKeSA entry requirements announced
Posted by Schu11ers on Dec 8th 2008 18:01
8th December 2008 (London, UK) – The UKeSA today confirmed the requirements for player and team managers nationality.
“As the UK eSports Association we are focused upon eSports in the United Kingdom, it is important we build upon the thriving community that already exists here, and to work towards making the UK the leading eSports territory.” Ray Mia, The (acting) Chairman of the UKeSA confirmed today “We fully recognise however that eSports is and will always be an international pursuit and have taken this into consideration during a consultation prior to agreeing the structure of the organisation”.
The UKeSA today re confirmed that the focus of the UKeSA would be on “Teams” rather than individual players. Requirements to participate in UKeSA events mean that Teams do not have to be based in the UK or have exclusively UK based members. However;
- The Team Manager must be the Intellectual Property owner of the team.
- The Team Manager must be British and UK based.
Or;
- The Team is a UK Limited company.
And under all circumstances;
- All active players must be able to play on UK servers.
All questions concerning the eligibility of Teams, players or managers to participate in any UKeSA events should be directed at info@ukesa.com.

All good news, focusing on building teams, keeping them together and training them up, instead of the "jumpship" players switching clans as we have now, can only be a good thing.
Although the UKeSA is focusing on the UK it's their ties to other countries e-Sports Communities through things like the IeSF that will be a great for UK e-Sports.
Exciting times =D
