E3 2009: Activision Impresses, PSP Go Leaked

Sony is going to announce the PSP Go at E3, Activision's press call revealed some interesting stats about the state of online gaming

Posted by SmellyMoss on Jun 1st 2009 13:51

With an E3 press pass comes great responsibility... hence why I don't have one. However, here at ED we do plan to give you the best overall coverage of the event that is humanly possible. We would be there but we're gearing up for our very own consumer version of E3 in the form of GameOn! London which will not only feature some UK game debuts but also the UKeSA Grand Finals.

Activision Press Call

First off, Activision have already held their webcast/conference call. Company CEO, Bobby Kotick, says that the amount of online gamers has doubled over the past 18 months from 12 million gamers to 23 million gamers and that Activision Blizzard are aiming to hit a billion dollars in profit by 2012. New games in development include a new Tony Hawk title (on top of Ride), a James Bond game and further expansion of Call of Duty. Starcraft II has also been given the generic release date of 'before the end of 2009.'

Sony PSP Go

Sony is set to announce the PSP Go at E3. Leaked reports say the device will feature a 16GB flash drive but no UMD drive, meaning the new PSP will be download driven. The device will also work with the Playstation Network and PS3.

Games At E3

The list of games being unveiled at the LA Convention Centre over the next few days is an impressive one and it's great to see the event turning back towards its roots with big money launches and plenty of hype to match. Chances are that if a game your expecting to come out in 2009 isn't announced this week, you're probably not going to be playing it until at least 2010. So, what should we be expecting from E3 2009?
