Everyone is sad about the closure of enemydown.co.uk (I would link but it doesn't exist anymore) but, as we've already mentioned, her time has come and gone. Over the past seven years the site has been a veteran workhorse who went far above and beyond her duty. She was a ship designed for only a thousand and didn't complain when we asked her to handle over 200 times more. Unfortunately, with that kind of popularity issues arise, mainly security but also problems with functionality and overall service. Hence the time has come for enemydown.co.uk's sleek and sexy younger sister to take over and take ED to new heights.
I tried to write a haiku about the end of ed.co.uk but just could not do the site justice. Instead, I went to the trusty ED forums and asked users to give their thoughts on the closure of the site and the sentiment was clear; the old ED will be missed but we all knew it was coming. Here is a selection of posts from the forum thread:

I've already got the death of .co.uk down in my calendar to make sure I never forget the day of its death. Ahh.. ED. So many lulz were had. So many wasted IT lessons due to me spamming to get the #1 poster position. Ahh.. Good times good times.

I've had many good memories on ED. First joined in early 2004 when I was completely new to the game, loved playing organised matches and such. Then went on to make my own clan |wDc| (White dragons clan for the old skool 1.6 players ) and played many wonderful games and had many disputes with admins and players. Then a new world was opened up to me... ED Off Topic!! Hope to get as much enjoyment out of the new site as I have in my 5 years registered on the old one.

Gotta throw rimmer in there. Probably one of the most influential admins ED ever had yet seems to of been completely forgotten already... I miss my arguments with him, got me banned from #enemydown.co.uk years back once and scored me a subname back when noone had one.

I like it, no adverts takin up the majority of the top half of my screen so I don't have to scroll down to get to different forum sections. Hope it stays nice and clean like this.

Next week Icarus and I will be bringing you a special podcast in tribute of enemydown.co.uk - I'm really looking forward to it and I know Icarus is as well.
Technically, the transfer from old to new has been successful but we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Match history will not be available straight away on the new site. However, it will be up within the next few days. This is only a small issue and you can still use Enemy Down. We also know that the CSS ladder is having some teething issues. These will also be fixed over the next couple of days.

at the first the new site takes a bit of time getting use 2 , i have been in ED quite a bit and was sad to c it go - but like they said nothing lasts forever and we allmove on to bigger n better things which is wot ED have done - so GL - for some reason as well REBELS didnt get transfered over with the LADDEr of Open in CSS so have re-entered them in the new ED - also is there stil gunna b the open challenge format where we put out challenges as that was sucessfull part of OLD ED on 2 on 2 and Open :)

yourtorres - IF u read the previious news report regarding the tranfer of teams u wud have noticed that u need to contact the admin if there were ne problems regarding the transfer of ur team so instead of flaming here saying how bad the new ED site is mayb u shud go into IRC and speak to admin and let them know ur problem ????????? - just my 2 cents

This all is done in RUSH - new site aint ready yet & its really hard to navigate here.
"problems with functionality and overall service" CMON this is what we are getting on this site, dont remember this being subject on old site.
...Dunno whos idea this sll is but this new site WILL lose clans & quickly... this site needs to be fixed in respect of friendly matches, adding members to clan, GUIDS (so noone else can use someone elses STID) etc.

Ad's everywhere yuk, ease of use there is none nothing is clear to see or find.
As for the data migration love that one, promoted ex members to leaders pure class nothing like a smooth transition and all of our player guid's lost needing re-adding and the big wait for player approval.
Seemingly no more access to event history ie, players adding, removing themselves from squads ans teams. scrolly scrolly flash pop add puke seriously such a shame progression is not ment to be backward.

ED is going to lose a lot of clans by moving across before the .eu site is ready. Why would it ever be a good idea to move to a site that doesn't actually have ladders working yet?
