It’s time to load up on the proverbial as the fan has only gone and landed! Yep, it appears that the new Aliens vs. Predator game is incubating nicely and the word from the Queen is that it’ll be the first of the Aliens games which sees the light of day, bursting out of John Hurt at its grand release at Game in Oxford Street.

Developed at Rebellion by the same dudes who forged the original 1999 classic, the all-new Aliens vs. Predator game gives players the chance to throw on the coat of each of the main three species in the series; the gum chewing Colonial Marine, the butt kicking Predator and the butt chewing Alien.

Each of the three species has a single-player campaign that interweaves with the campaigns of the other two species.

The game will also feature a ‘three for all’ online multiplayer battle where you’ll get the chance to stake your claim as the badest ass in the universe by controlling one of the three species in a fight to the death where much asshole will be torn asunder.

The game will be a story driven affair with the main plot being thus:

On planet BG-386 a colonist mining group discovers an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret. Across the stars a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs, whilst deep inside the ruined pyramid a malevolent intelligence awakes from centuries of dormancy.

The Marine’s story is your typical humans lot in this type of situation; a fight against the odds, against those dirt fiends which lurk in the dark.

You will be beset on all sides yet you’ll have more than harsh language at your fingertips as you’ll be armed to the teeth. After all, the Colonial Marine would be humanity’s last stand so we should expect nothing less than the firepower to fight back.

As the Alien, you’ll discover what it’s like to be the most murderous, foul, snarling and lethal wee beastie in the universe.

When playing as the ‘Xenomorph’ you’ll have the Hunter-like ability to traverse any surface with awesome agility in order to get close enough to unleash your bad breath, pointed teeth and razor like claws, imagine a cat swung around in a carrier bag twenty times then released into the face of a five year old covered in tuna & you’re getting close to the carnage.

As for the Predator, well, he’s a master of the hunt who grants you a suitcase full of exotic weaponry and equipment to play with which is essential to become a professional stalker (rain Mac and by-knock-you-lars included).

With Arnie’s arch nemesis the emphasis of the game play will be on ambushing prey up-close & personal and butchering them for a gory, explicit, legs spread eagled trophy kill.

Jason Kingsley, international playboy, ladies man extraordinaire, jewel thief, high end furniture sales man as well as CEO and Creative Director at Rebellion had this to say:

“The original Aliens vs. Predator game was a landmark title for Rebellion, and we are both proud and excited to be revisiting the license with SEGA and Fox L&M. Our new technology will enable us to produce a truly terrifying and visceral experience.”

Well amen to that brother! ‘Terrifying and visceral’ is what we’re all about!

Those first screenshots we spoke of look promising, showing a frantic FPS with Aliens flying all over the shop & the screen showing you playing as an Alien makes my anoos moist with the mere contemplation of what lies in store for us, the shallow gaming public.

You’ll all know of my fervered anticipation for the Colonial Marines game well strike a light as AvP is now right up there on my ‘would sell a relative for’ list and the shouts of ‘blood!’ will fill the air come early oh-10 when this bad boy ships.

We’ll keep an eye on it for you.
