LAN Update: Summer 09 Heating Up
LAN Update: Summer 09 Heating Up
Posted by SmellyMoss on Apr 23rd 2009 12:55
Looking for a LAN to attend this summer? There is plenty of offline action coming our way with Crossfire Challenge 6 this weekend in Enschede, LAN79 and FATlan (Belgium) just around the corner and the epic UK WCG qualifiers at i37 (UK) in August, not to mention the UKeSA Grand Finals in London in June. Here is a break down of where and what LAN events are coming up this summer in Europe.

French gaming event, LAN79, is set to take place near Bressuire from May 2nd to 3rd at the Bocapole. The event took a slating recently after dropping their prize pots by 25% due to lower than expected attendance figures. The deflation of prize money has caused the ButtonBashers to drop the event but the drop in prize money only really affects the top 2% of teams in attendance. Tip number one when planning a gaming event: always set a MINIMUM prize pot that can be increased!
LAN 79
When: May 2nd to 3rd, 2009
Where: Bressuire, France
Games: CSS, CoD4, Poker

The Community LAN has been setup by the driving forces behind European TF2; Moose, Amonsilas, dunc and Exfane. These guys have been smart with sticking to the tried and tested WZZRD LAN Cafe method that Crossfire uses to run their Crossfire Challenges. You can't go wrong there!
The Community LAN
When: July 3rd to 5th, 2009
Where: Enschede, Holland
Games: TF2

The-eXperience tickets have went on sale. Buy before May 3rd and save €100 on a group ticket! Ranked the best LAN of 2008 by the members of cadred.org, the-eXperience set the bar last year in how to run and host a LAN. The event takes place in Roskilde, Denmark which may seem like a world away but is only a short flight for anyone in Northern Europe.
The eXperience
When: July 27th to August 1st, 2009
Where: Roskilde, Denmark
Games: CSS, TMNF, DotA, FIFA 09, CoD4
Have I missed your LAN event? Throw me the details via PM and I'll add it to the list!

I don't think it'll be called XL anymore seeing as Matchbox360 have joined forces with ESL. They will most likely will become CSL UK.

CSL is the online tournament provider, ESGN will be the LAN events =)
