30 Second Rundown: WCG Games List & Gadget Show Live

GSL takes places this weekend in B'ham, WCG has added more titles, Sony TM's Starhawk

Posted by SmellyMoss on Apr 17th 2009 12:27

The World Cyber Games have confirmed their second batch of titles and the dates of the 2009 Grand Finals in Chengdu. Take a look here, very disappointing list from UK perspective.

The DLC content for Saints Row 2 has been delayed a week by THQ. The DLC will be available on the PS3 and 360 on April 23rd.

CVG has the goods on the free F.E.A.R 2 maps that have just been released.

Beatles Rock Band is going to run you down 179 quid. Pre order and you will receive 'exclusive' game elements. More from Eurogamer.

EA has sent out 75K Battlefield Heroes Beta keys. Did you get one?

While on EA, the publisher has had to recall a bunch of brass knuckles they sent out to journos in the States after someone pointed out that they are illegal in most US states. Anyone else find that hilarious? Kotaku broke the story.

Sony America have trademarked the name "Starhawk," according to Eurogamer. This only fuels the rumours of a new Warhawk, set in space, is coming to the PS3.

World of Warcraft's Secrets of Ulduar aka Patch 3.1 arrived this week in Europe. The patch includes Ulduar raid instance and a new quest line for solo players.

Sony has confirmed that DLC for Killzone 2 will be available later this month. The Steel & Titanium Pack will include two new multiplayer maps. Let me hear you whoop, whoop!

Microsoft is extending Xbox 360 warranties again. A new hardware fault that results in an E 74 error message means your machine must be replaced. Not so whoop, whoop.

A reminder that Gadget Show Live is on this weekend in Birmingham with Monkey (George Boothby) on hand to display his GH3 prowess throughout the event. Oddly enough, Monkey is going to wear a Reason Gaming shirt while at the event even though he plays for The Imperial. Anyone else find that odd? Heaven Media's CSS invitational tournament is also taking place.

Finally, to cap off this epic 30 SRD... Five rules to get your girlfriend into gaming by Games Radar. Afer reading this, I am now going to purchase Bioshock and get the girlfriend to give it a go.

WCG have disappointed a lot of people this year...

My thoughts on WCG are that they are part of the global recession... They've obviously lost Microsoft as a partner at the moment, hence the lack of Halo/CoD/Gears. They also only have 1 team game. Keeping costs down this way perhaps? More 1v1 titles is a much cheaper option for WCG considering the finals are in China. ie. housing/flights/food is cheaper with what they have announced. They only have one promotional title at the moment as well which isn't good.

I agree the list is terrible imo. Only a few decent competitve titles there (Starcraft, Warcraft, CS 1.6... Fifa :D!.

Not including CSS aswell is a mistake but yeh im sure theres alot of people surprised and annoyed not to see Halo, CoD and Gears in the list.

Maybe MLG had something to do with it ?

I don't see how MLG could do anything to WCG - MLG is small fish compared to WCG. CSS is only really big here in the UK so not surprised with 1.6 being in there. The list is very Asian influenced but, again, I think that is mainly due to an absent MS.

The Imperial were approached by Reason about Monkey and as a result he is "playing" for Reason Gaming at this event, which was organised by Heaven Media, as a loan player after certain conditions were agreed to between both teams.

I don't understand why people put underscores in their Usernames when you are allowed to do spaces?
