Back in those halogen days of the original Xbox there was a movie license game which was unlike any other; it was good!
When Starbreeze made 'Escape From Butcher Bay' they made a stealthy slasher romp that gave hope to many gamers that not all games linked with a movie would be wet pap fresh from the gutter.
Sadly the movie was wet pap fresh from the gutter. The game was not.
And now, with the influence of 'The Orange Box' looming those fine coat wearing fellows at Atari have 'The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Dark Athena' lined up for your consumption.
The game, the first work Starbreeze have commited themselves too since 'The Darkness' features a full HD remake of 'Escape From Butcher Bay' plus a whole follow on campaign which is a stand alone option at the start menu; 'Assault On Dark Athena'.
Not only that you lucky dogs but also some promising multiplayer options including the tantilising 'Pitch Black' game mode.
Starbreeze's mix of stealth, vicious hand to hand combat & ferocious gun fights mean that the game's release date cannot come soon enough, it's worldwide release this April may seem an age away when you want something so bad but fear not! The wait can be eased by a hefty amount of playing time with the demo, which is up NOW on Xbox 360's Marketplace.
The finished game ships in the US on April 7th and in the EU April 24th so be sure to shave your head with a large knife in time.
And be careful; something lurks in the shadows!
