Empire Total War
Empire Total War
Posted by .Icarus. on Nov 27th 2008 09:56
The series started with Shogun Total War and at the time when I first played these epic Samurai land battles I sadly took a week off work and became at one with the Art of War, much to my partners dismay as I refused to enter into conversion about the décor colour for our kitchen tiles without screaming "Banzai!!" every two minutes as my mind wandered back to holding a hilltop with three archer units and some spears.
Nothing much changed for the next years really I had ace fun ignoring the popes requests in the all the medieval games. Also, I never thought I was too patriotic for an Englishman until I got my hands on Medieval murdering the Scots, Welsh and Irish at the start of my career gave me such a naughty sense of satisfaction I'm concerned I have some odd DNA kicking about in my system.
Enter Rome. Now this game I confess I did not do justice, new kids were on my horizon and work had me falling over myself. I am still not sure if I just didn't have the time to engage with this version properly or I just didn't like it as much. Either way I was brought out of Total War retirement to the sounds of banging shields again with Medieval II.
Back to more execution of the Scots, Welsh and Irish - I really should take up rugby. Anyway, Empire is looming on our horizon with naval warfare for the first time, guns and a comprehensive multiplayer mode. I'm over the moon that this area has been ramped up and one day playing with chums in full campaign mode may become my wet dream reality.
So to stop me talking about sticky pants yet again go read the preview at computerandvideogames.com for the full breakdown.
PS take spare pants.
