TI Mellow said: (Feb 10 2009 at 20:34:29 GMT)

So let me get this straight.. If you get accepted into, lets say, CS:S Premiership then UKeSA will pay that team £500... for what? Staying together?
Ryoga Hibiki said: (Feb 11 2009 at 10:51:05 GMT)
The money can be used to support the team, like using it for travel and entry into other competitions, creating a website, buying team shirts, using it to give to each player, etc. Whatever the team sees fit that will benefit the team as a whole.
Ryoga Hibiki said: (Feb 11 2009 at 11:09:22 GMT)
Oh as I understand, this retainer is paid at the end of the season?
Waylander said: (Feb 11 2009 at 12:03:46 GMT)
Jam0r : The money is paid for staying together and following the rules and guidelines.
Money can be deducted from a team for breaking rules, not showing up for games, player misconduct and things of that nature.
To put it another way as long as a team plays and behaves in a professional manner then they will walk away with the retainer at the end of the season.
Jam0r said: (Feb 11 2009 at 14:43:54 GMT)
Right got you, so its pretty much a price for behaving well which could then be spent on other events, eg. like Ryoga said, attending LANs, etc..
Just find it weird that a league is paying a team a fairly decent amount of cash just for staying together and behaving yourself. Then again I don't understand much haha
Ryoga Hibiki said: (Feb 11 2009 at 15:15:40 GMT)
Well the problem with eSports is that players seem to come and go when it is most inappropriate, breaking up teams, which ends up breaking that brand. PC gaming is less so as there have been teams like Reason, Dignitas, etc that have maintained their brand, even if they may not have their original team members.
So one of the ways to encourage a professional and reliable environment (bare with me with the use of words), is give teams the incentives and support they need to build themselves up into brands and hopefully be taken seriously among the corporates and the public eye.
Jam0r said: (Feb 11 2009 at 15:47:44 GMT)
Well I can't wait :)
Jam0r said: (Feb 11 2009 at 15:50:36 GMT)
Also forgot to ask as well, I assume that all the teams currently signed up and paid for in the Championship event will be considered for promotion to the Premiership since its the first event?
Ryoga Hibiki said: (Feb 11 2009 at 16:41:26 GMT)
I assume so, since organisation is key to becoming a successful team.
Waylander said: (Feb 12 2009 at 08:58:08 GMT)
Yes Jam0r, that is bang on mate.
TorpeDOH said: (Feb 12 2009 at 09:48:49 GMT)
I know this sounds a little lazy but I've searched about and I just can't honestly find it, there is a lot of FAQs lol
"players seem to come and go when it is most inappropriate"
You couldn't be more right, my entire team had a discussion without me and decided they didn't want to play competitivly anymore and all three of them backed out of the team the day before yesterday. Now luckily we're only in the Open bracket at the moment, however I'm rallying recruitment forums looking for people to pick up, but I don't want to rush because of the UKeSA deadline and grab a player who will end up leaving the team next week...
Now the question: Is the transfer period for teams only for championship/premiership division teams and can Open bracket teams change their squads whenever they see fit during seasons, or are all team's rosters locked? Also if the latter is the case when is the lockout date? Friday 13th Feb?
.Icarus. said: (Feb 12 2009 at 11:26:22 GMT)
Open season has no locked rosters torpeDOH

I don't get this... CSS has more teams and more players registered in Championship than TF2, but TF2 gets more prize money across the board, even taking into account the 6man TF2 teams compared to 5man CSS teams TF2 gets more... Why?
xoxoxo said: (Feb 12 2009 at 13:43:58 GMT)
Because as stated games were picked on teams who had fully registered GUIDS and had paid their entrance fees. TF2 had more in terms of this.
