The gaming horizon is shining a rainbow of many colours; red, pink, orange, all hues radiate possibility and that possibility is hours of gaming goodness and that Holy Grail for the gamer; the classic game which melts your cold heart.
I have picked ten games that loom large on said horizon, their arrival immanent and our excitement should be duly packed and ready to fly.
Each one carries its own expectations, its own battles and images, pre-built wants that need to be met if the game is to be a success with the player.
Each game here means (hopefully) a brighter winter leading into a sunny spring, at the moment the release lists put Ghostbusters and Aliens out on the same day; wow!
What a great day for games based on huge ‘80s movies, both look surprisingly good and well handled and are treating their subject matter with respect.
Who doesn’t want to be a Colonial Marine with your trusty pulse rifle by your side exploring the eerie silence of the Sulaco or a Ghostbusters traipsing through a posh Manhattan hotel with a Proton Pack hanging from your back ready to unleash a stream of destruction to any near by chandelier?
Come on man, ‘tis the stuff dreams are made of!
What then of being a greasy biker in the streets of Liberty City with a whole new batch of characters to meet, guns to shoot, hogs to ride and sh*t to get in?
Or how about being a super skilled kung fu warrior ready to see off any opponent with your mystical skill?
If that doesn’t take your fancy you could try panic re-loading in some quiet African hamlet that is currently cuddling up to a potent strain of the T-virus?
It’s all there for the taking! These are my ten, what are yours?
Tekken 6
Afro Samurai
Ghostbusters: The Videogame
Killzone 2
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Dark Athena
GTA IV: The Lost & the Damned
Resident Evil 5
Halo Wars
Street Fighter IV
List your top ten upcoming games so we can see how united or divided the general gamer’s tastes are.
Whatever you choose it means a rich gaming near future which can only ever be a good thing.

Empire: Total War x10
I hope the new aliens game doesn't do what the AVP series did which was have default mouse sensitivity at about 10,000 so you could do 360 turns by twitching your pinky finger in an attempt to make the game faster paced! Poor show.

+1 Empire: Total War. I'm looking forward to have a go against .Icarus. on that, though I expect he'll destroy me.
I'd also mention EA's Battlefield 1943 and Atari's Race Pro.

AVP on the Atari Jaguar was awesome! I used to play that non-stop. The latest versions... not so good. The Atari Jaguar... there is something that never really is used a sentence.

I'm not a fan of Starcraft.. Would rather have Warcraft 4..

Actually, scrap Wii Sports.. Now I want Simon the Sorcerer 5!

Ah the Atari Jaguar, machine of lost dreams & yeah the AvP game was groovy on it. As for Aliens & mouse sensitivity I dunno, I'll be playing it on the 360.
Empire: Total War isn't on my radar really as my PC is old & snoozes in the corner in a dressing gown for most of the day. I loved Rome: Total War though.
