UKeSA Championship Divisions Opened

Squads and teams can now register to play in the UKeSA Championship Divisions

Posted by SmellyMoss on Jan 27th 2009 17:57

Over the last week and a half the response to the UKeSA Open Divisions has been incredible. The time has now come to find out what game titles have made the Championship level in UKeSA's inaugural season.

“The response to the UKeSA Open Division sign-ups has been outstanding.” Ray Mia, UKeSA Chief Executive said, “It's fantastic to see so many communities showing such tremendous levels of dedication and support. The next week will decide which games move into the much coveted Premiership Division. ”

From now until February 6th, players will be able to register to compete in the prize paying semi-professional Championship Divisions. The top four titles in terms of popularity and complete roster sign-ups from the Championship Divisions will become Premiership Divisions, the UKeSA's professional league with the highest prize money and season retainer fees.

Championship Division games in Season One will be:

PC

Counter Strike: Source (Valve Corporation)
Day of Defeat: Source (Valve Corporation)
Counter Strike 1.6 (Valve Corporation)
Team Fortress 2 (Valve Corporation)
Call of Duty IV: Modern Warfare (Activision)

Microsoft  XBOX 360

Call of Duty IV: Modern Warfare (Activision)
FIFA 09 (Electronic Arts)
Halo 3 (Bungie)

Sony PlayStation 3

FIFA 09 (Electronic Arts)

Championship Division players will be charged a fee of £7.49 per player to participate. This can either be paid individually or by a Team Manager covering the cost of multiple players/squads.

Teams must sign-up to the Championship Divisions to qualify for the Premiership.

Good stuff.
However can you please explain the other selection criteria for championship and premier league's please.
With regards to championship if a team is paid up, has a complete valid roster is that enough to ensure their participation or is there some kind of skill assessment.
Any further information regarding the premier league would also be valuable.
Cheers
Thanks

Jester, under "My ED" you have "My payments".

If you follow the instructions through there you should be good to go.

For the squad based tournaments there is the ability to pay for your team mates and see who has and has not paid yet. To do so head over to your squad page the click on the Tournaments tab then view the roster for the respective tournament.

Where is the Gears of War 2 Championship division?

Mikebe_large

SmellyMoss said: (Jan 27 2009 at 19:54:42 GMT)

There isn't one. It wasn't popular enough to make the cut. Maybe Season 2?

What will the prize money be?

It's surprising that GoW2 didn't make it over all divisions but thems the breaks.
I'm looking forward to the seasons all getting going, the teams coming through and the legends being made.
I've just talked a clan into joining so we've got one!

Gears of War is the best spectator game on either PC or 360. It should be on the championship division. I think that UKeSA should re-consider this. As it should definitely be on there. GoW has been the second most popular game at XL and the MLG other than Halo3 just because teams didn't sign up quick enough. Fifa is just individual players who probably just play the game on the side anyway. It's a bad decision not to include GoW. No one wants to watch Fifa!

Masked - thanks for your opinion. Unfortunately no where near enough full or even semi full teams signed up for it to come close. As I said, I think you guys will have it together for Season 2 in May/June. This is only Season 1 and Gears may have a chance yet. As for best spectator game - I think the other 4400 people who signed up to the UKeSA events and not GoW would disagree.

It's really too bad the latest patch didn't come out sooner.

Here's a question:
Seeing as FIFA is a solo game and the Premiership Division is suppose to be catered for teams - does that mean that all players have to be in teams like Dignitas, Reason, etc, for it to be counted as a potential Premiership Division title?

Good question Ryoga, I am also wondering about the structure of the FIFA 09 league, I seem to recall reading that a Team cannot have more than one squad in the Prem League, can we have some clarification on this matter and also the FIFA 09 league in particular please.

Mikebe_large

SmellyMoss said: (Jan 28 2009 at 09:03:09 GMT)

The rules stat that a team can have up to 3 individual players in a single Prem League.

Teams may only have a single squad in the Prems for squad based games.

Champs and Opens teams can do what they like.

Ryoga Hibiki said: (Jan 28 2009 at 13:02:47 GMT)

Ah, I see. So if there are 8 FIFA 360 places in the Premiership, Team Dignitas can only have 3 FIFA 360 players at anyone season in the Premiership. If a forth Team Dignitas FIFA 360 player gets promoted to the Premiership, then they can effectively sell that place to another team or loan that player for money, right?

So I guess FIFA player HAVE to find teams to be with in order for them to be in the Premiership...

Above, it says "Championship Division players will be charged a fee of £7.49 per player to participate." However, over on the Championship FAQ page it says "The fee is currently set at £7.49 per player per game title per season. A player wishing to compete in a season in 1 game title will pay £7.49. Each addition title they wish to play in will cost £7.49 per season."

Please confirm which is the case?

Golem - Every player has to pay the 7.49 fee. If you have a team of 4 players, they must each pay 7.59 each. (£29.96) Your team manager can pay for you though.
