Enemy Down Launches UKeSA
Enemy Down Launches UKeSA
Posted by SmellyMoss on Jan 16th 2009 17:55
The UKeSA and Enemy Down are pleased to announce that enemydown.eu will be the host of the 2009 UKeSA Open, Championship and Premiership Divisions.
Starting immediately, the UKeSA Open Divisions on Enemy Down will be open to registration. The Open Divisions are the amateur league of the UKeSA and, although they do not feature prizes, are free to everyone and will form the grassroots base of UK eSports.
Communities need to come together to help make registration for the Open Divisions a success. The Open Division, based on the number of full squad sign-ups for each game title, will determine the 8 to 10 games that will become Championship Division titles. The semi-pro Championship Division will offer cash prizes and other rewards to participating teams. Eventually, the top four Championship games will form the UKeSA's professional league, the Premiership Division.
“We are delighted to be working with Enemydown.eu for Season One” says Ray Mia, Executive Chair of UKeSA.
“Even though the Open Divisions are the amateur level and will not have prize money associated with them, they are key to determining which games are sufficiently popular to be represented at the all important Championship Division.”
The launch of the UKeSA Open Division has been long awaited in the UK with several gaming communities pulling together to help make sure their titles were apart of the Season 1 game selection. The Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 community for the Xbox 360 worked hard over the past 48 hours to have their title added to Open Division list even garnered the support of the developer.
All the events in Season One are listed here.
