UKeSA Managers
Questions
- Who is eligible to manage a UKeSA team or squad?
- What training is available to UKeSA team managers?
- Can a player be the manager of a UKeSA team?
- Does every team need a manager?
- We are just four friends who play for fun and have no manager - what do we do?
- Can a team have multiple managers?
- Can a manager have multiple teams?
Any British citizen based in the UK can manage a UKeSA team if they own the IP of the team they manage. For a small clan of friends, this is as simple as registering a team on Enemy Down. Major foreign organisations must create a UK franchise via a UK manager who owns the IP rights to the team.
Non-British managers can only manage a team that is a UK Limited company.
The UKeSA status of a Team Manager is based upon their highest ranking squad. Premiership and Championship Managers will recieve specialist support training from the UKeSA. Training packages are divided into two levels, Championship and Premiership Managers.
Championship Team Managers:
- Sponsorship awareness training (1/2 day)
- UKeSA Team manager basic training (1/2 day)
Premiership Team Managers:
- All of the above
- Media awareness training (1 day)
All training course are held in London on a seasonal basis.
“Sponsorship awareness” is a required to attend UKeSA sponsorship evenings.
The first attendance of training is mandatory, if Managers would like to attend subsequent seasons training for “top up” purposes they may do so.
Experienced Team managers may be asked to relay some of their experience to younger Team Managers on the course.
UKeSA will ensure that there is a fast and flexible system allowing squads to identify teams that are recruiting and teams to identify the best squads in a game title.
At UKeSA Sponsorship events, Premiership Managers will be encouraged to present their squads and teams to perspective sponsors. Championship Managers will be invited to attend these events but will be unable to present to sponsors directly.
Every Team needs a Manager. The Manager is the person who represents the team and is accountable for the conduct of the team to the UKeSA. That person should have leadership qualities, be mature and sufficiently media/commercially savvy to be able to represent the other players. The UKeSA recognise that some managers might not have all these skills, which is why we are putting on training courses to support Team Managers.
If there is a situation where there are four guys who like playing together but none of them feel comfortable being the Manager then the UKeSA suggests they speak to the Team Managers of the larger teams who don’t have a squad in that game type. Try the ED recruitment section for a start.
No. This is because of the costs associated with the training of Team Managers in the Championship and Premiership Divisions.
